Kyle Dubas Sends a Clear Message Regarding Sidney Crosby Trade Rumors

The Pittsburgh Penguins have been involved in a lot of rumors and speculation over the past couple pf seasons, specifically regarding Sidney Crosby.

After all, Crosby is coming to the end of his career, and the Penguins are further away from a playoff spot than they ever have been throughout his career.

Yesterday, these rumors continued, as many around the hockey world believed that Sid the kid could be heading to the Colorado Avalanche.

However, Nathan MacKinnon himself denied these rumors, and now Kyle Dubas seems to be joining him.

During his media availability following the first round of the 2025 draft, Dubas reiterated that he intends to get the Penguins back into the playoffs as soon as possible, preferably with Sidney Crosby still on the roster.

This has been Dubas' official stance on this issue ever since he took over in Pittsburgh, despite the rumors and pressure from the media that Crosby could or even should be traded.

Ultimately, at the end of the day, it will be up to Crosby whether or not he gets moved.

Based on everything Crosby and Dubas have said to this point, it certainly does not seem as though he is going anywhere.

That being said, the Penguins did not come particularly close to a playoff spot last season, and as Crosby will be turning 38 next year, his time in the league is running out.

Even though the Penguins had three first round picks this year, none of those prospects are likely to make a difference before Crosby retires, so much more will have to be done if the legendary Penguins captain is ever going to see the playoffs again with this team.

Hopefully Dubas can figure out a way to catapult the Penguins back into contention this summer, otherwise we may very well have already seen Crosby's last career playoff game.
