The Pittsburgh Penguins are reportedly trying to move on from three of their best players and key veterans, per a massive report from insider David Pagnotta.

After another disappointing year of missing the playoffs for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Kyle Dubas is ready to turn the tide and will be looking to move on from some of their best veteran players: Erik Karlsson, Bryan Rust, and Rickard Rakell.
Insider David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period has reported that the Penguins are entertaining offers on the trio of veterans and that the LA Kings are inquiring about the services of these three.
"Penguins are looking to sell off pieces, entertaining offers on Erik Karlsson, Rickard Rakell and Bryan Rust; the Kings have been talking with them" - David Pagnotta

It should be noted that this is not the first time that reports like this have come up, as insider Marco D'Amico of RG Media reported that the Penguins were looking to sell prior.
Additionally, D'Amico added that the Penguins' three most cherished veterans, Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang, are safe from any trade speculation.
Bryan Rust, who is 33 years old, was one of the Penguins' top forwards last year, scoring 31 goals and 65 points in only 71 games. If he is traded, he should yield a fair return.
Rickard Rakell, a tad younger than Rust, scored 35 goals and 70 points in 81 games this past season. He had a massive bounce-back year after a 37-point campaign in 2023-24 and has inflated his trade value significantly.
Finally, Erik Karlsson, the three-time Norris Trophy winner, has posted back-to-back 50+ point years for the Penguins. However, this is considered rather disappointing, as the year before he was brought in, he scored 101 points with the San Jose Sharks and won the Norris Trophy.
Now it seems that Kyle Dubas has his work cut out for himself and is expected to make splashes this coming offseason to get the Penguins in a position to be most successful down the line.
