Pittsburgh Penguins Provide a Frustrating Update on Injury Suffered By Rickard Rakell
This afternoon, the Pittsburgh Penguins have given an update on Rickard Rakell's status after leaving last night's game due to injury.
The injury happened during the third period giving some fans hope that if it had happened earlier in the game Rakell might have returned.
Of course, Rakell did not return to the lineup leaving fans to wait for an update from the organization which has now happened.
Unfortunately, an update has been given on Rakell and he will now be out long-term after having hand surgery.
Penguins Confirm Rickard Rakell's Injury Fate
In an update provided on X, the Penguins confirmed that Rakell has already had surgery and will be out for six to eight weeks.
Beyond the fact that Rakell suffered an injury to his hand there has not been much confirmed about the injury or the seriousness of it.
With Rakell out, the Penguins and GM Kyle Dubas have made a roster move calling up prospect
Ville Koivunen from the AHL to replace him.
A 6-8 week timeline would see Rakell return to the Penguins lineup right before or just after Christmas depending on how recovery goes.
Rakell before the injury was continuing right where he left off on pace for a career year once again with the Penguins on pace for 73 points.
As more reports come in giving further details on Rakell's injury and continued recovery we will pass along the latest details to you.
