Pittsburgh Penguins Reportedly Among Two Confirmed Teams That Have Inquired on Carter Hart
Carter Hart's NHL return appears to be coming soon, and now David Pagnotta has revealed the Penguins are one of several teams to reach out.
After a long, drawn out legal process, the NHL has confirmed the return of Carter Hart to the National Hockey League, with teams able to sign him in October for a potential return in December and beyond.
Despite the off-ice issues, Hart was clearly on his way to becoming a very good player in the NHL, and just days after his return was revealed, there have been several teams reach out to the 27-year old.
Penguins, Kyle Dubas reach out to Carter Hart
According to The Fourth Period's David Pagnotta, the Pittsburgh Penguins were one of those teams, with the Flyers and Hurricanes also teams that have been named in connection with him.
Goalie Carter Hart has generated the most interest, with the Philadelphia Flyers, Carolina Hurricanes and Pittsburgh Penguins among the clubs that have reached out. I expect a short-term deal for the 27-year-old, and that may come from a Western Conference team when all is said and done. And while there's speculation the Edmonton Oilers are right there, I haven't gotten that sense.
This comes despite the Penguins having Tristan Jarry, Artus Silovs and Joel Blomqvist all with NHL experience on the roster, although Pagnotta doesn't reveal just how interested the team were when they reached out.
Ultimately, the Penguins aren't just a goaltender away from contention, and it's a position of talent for the organization, so pushing for Carter Hart given potential backlash from fans and that stacked depth chart is a questionable move, but only time will tell just how aggressive their pursuit is.
