Pittsburgh Penguins Shake Things Up with Thrilling Announcement for Next Season

Early on Tuesday, it was leaked that the Pittsburgh Penguins were headed overseas in 2025, and not long later, the NHL made it official with a very exciting announcement.

In November 2025, the team will face the Nashville Predators in Stockholm, Sweden in the latest edition of the NHL's Global Series, and given the Swedish star power on both rosters, this should be a very fun encounter.

From Rickard Rakell to Filip Forsberg to Erik Karlsson, there will be no shortage of representation for the home country in this one, and given how lucky they've been in recent years with the matchups sent to Sweden, this one should be just as exciting.

Back in 2022, the Predators played a two game series with the San Jose Sharks in Prague, but for the Penguins it was 2008 the last time we saw them overseas as they battle the Ottawa Senators in Stockholm.

As for one of Sweden's biggest cities, this will be the fourth time since 2017 that they've seen NHL games played, and given how big the NHL has become in Sweden, with 94 active NHL players from the country, it's easy to see why they've become a popular destination for the league.

There's still plenty happening in 2024/25 for the Penguins, and with plenty of salary cap space heading into the summer, this is a team that could look very different when this series takes place, but given the overall talent and the atmosphere, this should be a very big occasion for the NHL once again.
