Sergei Murashov's long awaited NHL debut came on Sunday for the Penguins, and now he's shown appreciation for the fans following a solid performance.
The Pittsburgh Penguins prospect group overall is questionable at best, but in net the team have some talents of the future with Arturs Silovs, Joel Blomqvist and Sergei Murashov all representing plenty of promise.
On Sunday, the latter made his NHL debut in a 3-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, but even in defeat, he won the respect of his teammates and the fans after a very impressive 24-save outing.
Murashov Shouts Out Penguins Fans for the Support
Sure, the 21-year old may not have won the game, but on the ice he won the hearts of many fans, and after a highly anticipated debut, he shouted out the fans for their support through what must have been a very nerve wracking time.
Fans were really, really supportive for me. I felt it, and truly appreciate it. Definitely, it's a great building, great city, great people here.
With Murashov potentially taking a spot as an NHLer moving forward, the excitement continues to build in Pittsburgh after their 9-5-3 start to the 2025/26 campaign, and while he may not be the complete package yet, his debut performance has built expectation and excitement among Penguins fans.
It's unclear what the immediate future holds in store for the former fourth-round draft pick, but at 21-years of age, the future is incredibly bright for Murashov, and with Penguins fans behind him, if he gets some more opportunities in the NHL in the absence of Tristan Jarry, the excitement will only continue to build.
