Tonight, the Penguins unexpectedly dropped a game to the Flames who are near the bottom of the standings and now Sidney Crosby has confirmed what went wrong.

The Pittsburgh Penguins came into tonight's contest against the Calgary Flames on a hot streak and back in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
However, all of their positive momentum has come to a screeching halt with a 2-1 loss to the Calgary Flames who currently sit 30th in the NHL.
After the game, Sidney Crosby spoke to the media and discussed what went wrong tonight for the Penguins and how they can get back on track.

Crosby admitted that having to shuffle new players into the lineup led to some disfunction within the lines overall.
On top of the changes, Crosby believes the Penguins have to do a better job of capturing momentum swings and using positive momentum to change the outcome of each game.
We had a couple of looks. We had some new guys together. Just making sure that we execute.

That's the difference. We had some good looks, and that's what it comes down to.

We got a big goal there in the second (period) and got some momentum off that.

Unfortunately, we give up one (on) the first shift in the third (period). Games are going to have momentum flows. Unfortunately, we weren't able to build off that second period momentum. - Sidney Crosby

With the loss, the Penguins currently still sit in a playoff spot but could be passed up tonight still with a win by the Buffalo Sabres.
Now, the Penguins will travel to Boston tomorrow night where they will need a big win against a Bruins team that is coming off a 10-2 thrashing of the New York Rangers.
