Pittsburgh Penguins captain and franchise icon Sidney Crosby has the chance to break Mario Lemieux's point record in his hometown of Montreal tonight against the Canadiens at Bell Centre.

There's not a whole lot going right for the Pittsburgh Penguins right now, who have come back down to earth in a serious way after getting off to a much better start to the season than most fans and analysts would have guessed was possible.
The Penguins have now lost seven straight games, including six in a row at home, which is now the worst homestand in team history.
They will try and right the ship tonight against the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre, and it will give captain and franchise icon Sidney Crosby a chance to make history in the hometown of another Pittsburgh icon.
Crosby's next point will tie him with Mario Lemieux for most in team history, and he was asked about it before facing the Habs.
I don't think about it a whole lot. It's something that I'm asked about. You get close, you're just hoping you win the game and get it done. There'll be lots of time to reflect one day. At this point, it's not really the mode I'm in.

I do have so much respect for what [Lemieux] has accomplished, what he means to the game, what he means to me, his family. That probably means more than anything, honestly.

For me coming in, you could get drafted anywhere. For it to work out the way it has, to be here as long as I have and have that relationship, that's special in itself. - Sidney Crosby
So far this year, Crosby has 35 points (19G, 16A) in 33 games and is on pace for 87 points, which would match his sweater number.

Sidney Crosby Also Responded To The New Penguins' Ownership Group

A majority stake in the Penguins was just purchased by the Hoffmann Family of Companies from the Fenway Sports Group.
Crosby said he doesn't think it will impact much on the team and that he's looking forward to meeting the new ownership group.
From what I've heard, I don't think it's going to impact a whole lot. I think there's still a lot of process to go through anyway. I think it's pretty rare to see that happen that quickly, but that's part of it. Just excited to meet the new ownership whenever that happens. - Sidney Crosby

Tonight all eyes will be on Crosby to see if he can impress the new ownership group and continue breaking records.
