New Pittsburgh Penguins owner Geoff Hoffmann has released a statement after buying the club from the Fenway Sports Group.

The Hoffmann Family of Companies has announced they've reached an agreement with the Fenway Sports Group to acquire a controlling interest in the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Fenway Sports Group, who had bought a controlling interest from the Penguins in 2021, bought it from the group led by Mario Lemieux and his business partner Ron Burkle.
The Hoffmann Family of Companies also owns the Florida Everblades of the ECHL.
Geoff Hoffmann has now released a statement to fans of the Penguins promising to honour the legacy of franchise while working closely with GM Kyle Dubas to try and bring the Penguins back to the upper levels of the NHL.
Hockey has always been a meaningful part of our family's story, which makes this an incredibly special opportunity. We've long admired the Pittsburgh Penguins - not just for their championship legacy and history, but for the culture, passion, and loyalty that define the organization. From our earliest conversations, we saw how deeply the Penguins are woven into the fabric of Pittsburgh. We are honored to join that tradition and excited to become an active part of the community.

«The franchise has thrived under the world-class leadership of Fenway Sports Group, and we are excited to build on that momentum. Our goal is to support Kyle Dubas with everything he needs to bring the Penguins back to the pinnacle of the NHL. We look forward to working alongside the exceptional leadership team already in place, strengthening our connection with Penguins fans, and ensuring the franchise remains a source of pride for the city for generations to come. - Geoff Hoffmann

Fenway Sports Group Purchased The Penguins In 2021 From Mario Lemieux's Group

Fenway Sports Group bought the Penguins for a reported $950 million US from The Lemieux Group in 2021.
Even though Lemieux and Ron Burkle expressed interest in repurchasing a majority stake in the team, their alleged bid didn't meet the asking price.
The Penguins have not made the playoffs since 2022, which is the longest drought in the careers of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Kris Letang.
