Sidney Crosby Displeased with Penguins Teammates as Morning Skate Takes an Ugly Turn
It looks like once again this season, the Pittsburgh Penguins will be out of the playoffs, as they keep falling in the stands.
For a team in this position, all games are important, meaning that all moments, like practices and training sessions leading up to the games, are key.
However, in the morning skate ahead of the game against the Lightning, intensity wasn't there.
Mike Sullivan saw it, and immediately called out his players on the ice.
Josh Yohe revealed on X that Sullivan didn't shy away from dropping a few f-bombs in an intervention:
Sidney Crosby and Sullivan shared insights on the situation:
"We weren't good enough in the morning skate. I think that's why you saw the reaction you did from him. For good reason. You want to prepare the right way. We didn't have a great practice this morning, and the game went like this. It's not acceptable." - Sidney Crosby
"My experience being around this game is that it's very difficult to read into a morning skate. Having said that, obviously we weren't pleased with the focus or the execution." - Mike Sullivan
Crosby wasn't bad in the game, scoring an assist on his team's only goal of the night, but it wasn't enough:
Captain Crosby and the Penguins will be back on the ice tomorrow, against the worst team in the Eastern Conference:
the Buffalo Sabres.
As of now, the Pens are in the seventh position in their division with 69 points in 73 games. Only the Flyers are behind them in the Metropolitan Division, with 65 points in 73 games, and the Sabres, with 64 points in 70 games, at
the last spot in the Atlantic Division.
