Sidney Crosby Gets Candid and Emotional in Latest Comments
Penguins captain Sidney Crosby was visibly emotional today during his exit interview as he prepares for the offseason.
The Penguins held their end-of-season exit interviews today as the players cleared out their stalls in the locker room.
Among them was the team's longtime captain Sidney Crosby, who remains as loyal as ever to the franchise that drafted him and helped him win three Stanley Cups.
After all, the 37-year-old isn't really used to losing as the Penguins have at least made the playoffs in 14 of the 20 years he's been in the NHL.
The team has also won 20 playoff series in that span and made four Stanley Cup finals appearances, of which they won three.
Crosby addressed the lack of playoffs in his exit interview today, saying how disappointing it is not to be in them because the playoffs are so much fun.
He also spoke as to why he thinks the team failed to make the playoffs this season, noting that the team was competitive most nights and got their fair share of chances, but a lack of finishing and untimely mistakes ultimately sank their season.
At the end of the day, the team finished 11 points shy of the playoff line this year.
It is very possible that Kyle Dubas could improve this team enough to get six more wins next season, so perhaps Crosby will get another chance in the playoffs before he retires.
Of course, the bar to get in next year could also be higher than it was this year so hopefully the team can be even better than that.
