Sidney Crosby’s “iffy” status just got louder, and Team Canada feels one hit away from panic.

Canada coach Jon Cooper said Sidney Crosby is “by no means ruled out of the tournament.”
“We got the best of the best looking at him…We're taking this day by day, and we're not going to put anybody in harm's way. But if he can play, he's definitely going to. We’ll know more again in 24 hours.”

That was the coach protecting his room, and it was also a giant shrug.
Then Pittsburgh insider Josh Yohe added the missing layer.
Yohe reported a source saying it’s “iffy” Crosby plays in the next one or Sunday, even though Crosby badly wants to go.
That lines up with Cooper’s tone, but it hits harder because it points to real doubt, not just “maintenance.”
Crosby left Canada’s quarterfinal win over Czechia in the second period and did not return.
This is the part that scares Penguins fans, because you do not limp through the Olympics and come back fresh.

Sidney Crosby puts Team Canada on a knife edge

You can feel the fanbase holding its breath, because this is exactly how a “minor” lower-body turns into missed weeks.
Canada’s men play the semifinals Friday, with medal games Saturday and Sunday.
If Crosby can’t push, Cooper has to reshuffle the top-six and the first man-advantage look instantly.
Crosby’s game is all touch and timing, and a compromised stride kills his puck protection down low.
For Pittsburgh, the stakes are just as real, even from across the ocean.
Crosby has 27-32-59 in 2025-26, and the Penguins sit 29-15-12.
If Yohe’s “iffy” turns into “out,” the next update better come with a timeline, not vibes.
