In the middle of his career, Sidney Crosby suffered many big time injuries, and the story of him considering retirement from Pittsburgh has once again resurfaced.

Over his career, Sidney Crosby has been one of the most consistent players in the NHL, as he is set to break some big time Penguins franchise records after over two decades with the organization.
However, things almost went sideways in the middle of his career, as he suffered some unfortunate injuries between 2011 and 2013, and while he's gone on to immense success since, there was a time he considered injury.

Crosby's Story Sheds Light on the Hidden Toll of Concussions in Sports

He opened up on that shortly after in an interview that has now resurfaced, where Crosby opened up on thoughts of retirement and just how much concussions took a toll on him.
I'd be lying if I didn't say that I thought about it.

When you get a typical injury you're given a time frame, you're gradually working towards getting back. With concussions there is not generally a time frame or a span where you're feeling better.

You feel like you're getting better and it can be one day and you're back to where you started. It's a frustrating injury and one that anyone has gone through can relate. It's a hard one to understand unless you've gone through it.

I don't really think about it a whole lot. It's not really that fun to think about,» Crosby had said. «It was a pretty crappy time.
Fortunately for Penguins fans, Crosby persevered and remained one of the best players in the NHL for the past decade, and while his career is closing in on its end, those fans have been fortunate to witness one of the games greats, who has battled through injury to define a generation for many hockey fans.
