NHL insider Josh Yohe revealed that once Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby retires from the game he loves, he won't be a coach, but could look into ownership.

Sidney Crosby turns 38 on Thursday, but a great many fans have been wondering the same things about the franchise's biggest superstar once he hangs up his skates: Will he coach? Front office man, perhaps? What about ownership?
NHL insider got about 40 variations of the same question from fans and decided to provide his opinion on the whole matter.
Josh Yohe reports that Sidney Crosby has repeatedly said that he has no desire to coach. That is probably a relief since history suggests that superstars don't generally do well in the role on the bench.
Although there are a couple of exceptions, the greatest players find on-ice success hard to transfer to the ranks of the coach.
Though Yohe believes Crosby's personality would be more suited for a general manager, the odds of him becoming a GM aren't far-fetched. Leadership abilities, smarts, and a sense of the game are a natural blend for a front-office job.

Crosby's Post-Retirement Path Could Influence the Penguins' Leadership and Ownership Future

Another probable scenario is ownership. Once things stabilize with Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle's return as owners of the Penguins franchise, Crosby is immediately a factor in the equation.
Will Crosby end up in management, or coaching, or be a team owner someday?

Many of you asked this question in various forms.

Crosby has told me he isn't interested in coaching. That's probably good because great players typically don't make great coaches. There are exceptions, but that's usually how it works.

I could see him being drawn to being a general manager and, let's be honest, if Mario Lemieux and Ron Burkle find a way to reclaim ownership of the Penguins, Crosby would be a natural and qualified investor down the road.

- Josh Yohe

Following an incredibly lengthy career with the franchise and a highly respected legacy, it won't be surprising if he has a hand in figuring out the franchise's future, off the ice.
