While the Pittsburgh Penguins are all but assured of missing out on the Stanley Cup Playoffs, one bright spot in their lineup is the play of captain and future Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby.
With his pair of goals, he's now scored at least twice in a game against 31 other NHL clubs (105), 2nd only to Ovechkin (178).
Sidney Crosby has recorded a multi-goal game against 31 different franchises marking the most among all players in NHL history. The only teams he has yet to do so against are Utah and Pittsburgh.
The Penguins are likely to miss the postseason for the 3rd consecutive year, which would mark the longest drought of Crosby's career.
After signing the deal,
he said that it was best to sign a contract that made sense for both himself and the team, whom he believes still wants to do whatever is necessary to win.
Trying to project how you're going to feel in a number of years, it's hard. Just making sure that it's something that made sense for both myself and the team.
There's still hunger from the organization (and) ownership to win and a commitment. From the time I've been here, that's the case and that's been there. That's important.
After scoring twice against Vegas, Crosby now has 70 points (23G, 47A) in 65 games played this year.
