The Pittsburgh Penguins have a big decision to make in the 2025 NHL Draft, and now, it appears a top QMJHL player could be the selection at No. 11 overall.

The 2025 NHL Draft isn't one of the strongest in recent memory, but with some talented players littered throughout the prospect pool, it's safe to say that some teams could come away from the event very, very happy.
One team that's looking to land a star of the future is the Pittsburgh Penguins, who currently hold the No. 11 pick in the draft, and while it appears as though Kashawn Aitcheson may be their ideal target, there's other prospects that could be a good fit at the position.
Now, Justin Carbonneau of the QMJHL appears to be emerging as a top choice at No. 11, with the 6-foot-1 winger having some incredible handles and goal scoring abilities that could make him a key piece of the Penguins future.
The 18-year old broke out in 2024/25 in the QMJHL with a career year, posting 46 goals and 89 points in just 62 games played, and with a solid track record of improvement, he could go anywhere in the top-15 of the 2025 NHL Draft.
While he certainly isn't as quick or physical as other top prospects that Pittsburgh will be considering at No. 11 overall, his handles are some of the best in the draft, but it's the potential two-way game that make him incredibly attractive as a prospect.
It's not quite there yet, but Carbonneau improved immensely on the defensive end this past season, and with the ability to lead the rush with his unique combination of vision, skill and speed, it's safe to say that a team like Pittsburgh that lacks high end skill beyond their top stars would be a no-brainer for him.
With the Pens needing a star of the future, many are looking to the blue line, but if their ideal target is off the board, landing someone to lead the way after Crosby and Malkin are gone is a great idea, so don't count out the prospect of landing Justin Carbonneau at No. 11 overall.
