Vancouver Canucks President Announces Major News About Mike Sullivan

The NHL is going to look incredibly different in 2025/26, with eight teams currently searching for a Head Coach, including the Pittsburgh Penguins, who moved on from Mike Sullivan on Monday, with many potential replacements emerging for the Penguins.

While his future now heads beyond Pittsburgh, there is expected to be plenty of interest in the veteran Head Coach, with teams from all over North America expected to court the coach that many believe to be one of the best in the entire NHL.

Now, many have predicted the Vancouver Canucks to make a play at Sullivan, with many people involved in the front office there having close ties to the Penguins during Sullivan's reign.

However, President of Hockey Operations Jim Rutherford has shut down any potential link to Sullivan with his recent comments, as he has revealed that the veteran Head Coach wants to stay on the East coast.

While that rules out Vancouver, Seattle and Anaheim, it doesn't limit his options too much, as there is expected to be plenty of interest from teams in the East, most notably the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers.

Given how much success he had in a decade behind the bench in Pittsburgh, don't be shocked to see Sullivan becoming the highest paid coach in the NHL, and at this point in time given all that we know, it's most likely to be either Boston or New York for the 57-year old.
