Jared McCann was a great Penguin for three seasons, and now the current Kraken star is drawing interest from several Eastern Conference teams.
The Seattle Kraken have shown promise early in their franchise history, but to this point they've struggled with consistency, making the Stanley Cup Playoffs just once in their four years in the National Hockey League.
One player that has been consistent for them is winger Jared McCann, who has tallied 118 goals in 315 games with the team, showing them what high level talent looks like on a nightly basis.
Two Penguins rivals circling the Kraken star
With the outlook of the team heading into 2025/26, it's no surprise that a player like McCann has drawn attention on the trade market, with
recent reports now showing that he is drawing significant interest from two Eastern Conference teams.
Those Eastern Conference teams are reportedly the New Jersey Devils and the Montreal Canadiens, both teams that were playoff squads in 2025 who believe they can take a step forward this year, so while they aren't the only ones interested, don't be surprised to see them push the hardest.
These rumours date back to the 2025 trade deadline, and with the Kraken struggling to even push for a post-season spot last season, the opportunity for other teams to make a move for the 29-year old only increases now.
Thus far, Seattle have been resistant to moving McCann, with the deal to get him to likely include a first-round pick and a top prospect, and while that's usually the return for a superstar, after how big a sellers market it was in 2025, the Kraken may want to cash in on that in 2026 at some point.
