Major Concerns Rise as Ilya Samsonov Is Absent from Marlies Practice
Yesterday, goaltender Ilya Samsonov was assigned to the AHL, and today he was noticeably absent from Marlies practice.
Just two days ago, the Toronto Maple Leafs placed Samsonov on waivers, and after clearing them, he was sent down to the AHL to join the Toronto Marlies.
«Ilya Samsonov has cleared waivers and will join the Toronto Marlies. He won't play in any games this week. The Leafs/Marlies team are going to work with him on and off the ice to get his confidence & game back.»
Despite expectations that Samsonov would be practicing with the Marlies today, he was not seen in attendance.
«Ilya Samsonov is not on the ice at Marlies practice. Sounds like, as of right now, he won't be practicing with the team this week.»
While it's possible that Samsonov is working off the ice with specialists, his absence from practice raises concerns.
