Rumour: Eastern Conference team showing interest in Leafs winger William Nylander
William Nylander has been a Maple Leaf for his entire NHL career, but according to one popular rumour site, his run in Toronto may be coming to an end with contract negotiations essentially going nowhere between he and the team. Nylander is believed to be seeking a deal in excess of $10M per season, with the Leafs more comfortable under $9M.
According to Hockey Buzz owner, Eklund, the New York Islanders have significant interest in Nylander and the Maple Leafs are extremely motivated to get a deal done as they also have their eyes set on a potential move to acquire Norris Trophy winner, Erik Karlsson.
A previous report from Eklund had stated that the Islanders were believed to be structuring a package for Nylander that would include players like Jean-Gabriel Pageau and Oliver Wahlstrom plus for Nylander plus.
As always, with the source not being the most reliable one, we should take this all with a grain of salt until such a time as one of the more reputable insiders reports something similar.
