Many believe Mitch Marner is ready to depart the Maple Leafs, and now he's opened up for the first time since Sunday night's disappointment.

While the Toronto Maple Leafs made it to Game 7 in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, their season once again ended in disappointment, with the belief that this could have been the final run for John Tavares and Mitch Marner as a member of their hometown team.
Unsurprisingly, Marner was recently asked about that just two days after the Game 7 defeat, with the veteran forward revealing that he has now yet had a chance to speak to his wife about the situation and his future in the NHL, despite losing to Florida two days ago.
What was interesting however is that Marner, unlike Tavares did not state during his interview that he wanted to be back in Toronto, as it's very likely that the NHL's top free agent this summer would prefer to test the open market and see what he can get paid in a free agency class with very little star power.
That's not to say that he has no interest in coming back, but he's attempting to be very transparent here, noting that he will take his time over the next few weeks to discuss his future with his wife and his agent as he looks to plot his future in the NHL.
If it is the end for Marner in Toronto, it will no doubt be a disappointing way for his run to end, but one day when looking back, he will be hopeful that Maple Leafs fans remember his time in Toronto as a positive one, rather than the disappointment of a Game 7 defeat.
