Is the future of Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes with the franchise in doubt? It very well could be, per the newest report from ESPN NHL analyst Greg Wyshynski.
After what was truly a difficult year for the Vancouver Canucks in 2024-25, they appear poised to try and make another run at the postseason, which they missed this year, only a season after winning the Pacific Division and advancing to Game 7 of the WCSF.
What are the chances that GM Patrik Allvin could stun hockey fans everywhere with a trade of captain and former Norris Trophy winner Quinn Hughes?
Per ESPN analyst Greg Wyshynski, who joined 'The Big Show with George Rusic & Patrick Dumas' of Sportsnet, the Canucks could try and trade Hughes rather than risk losing him for nothing down the road.
If you're the Canucks, it'd be insane to let him walk (for nothing). You could see the situation becoming like another Matthew Tkachuk, where, you know where it's all headed, so you might as well get out ahead of it and make a deal before he leaves for nothing. It kind of feels like it's trending in that direction.

Current Canucks president of hockey operations nearly got himself in hot water in recent weeks when he openly discussed the idea of the Hughes brothers, who include Jack and Luke of the New Jersey Devils, playing together.
For the Canucks to lose Hughes would truly be a devastating loss, even with an appropriate return.
