Vancouver Canucks GM Reveals Why He Traded AHL Playoff MVP Arturs Silovs to Pittsburgh
Former Abbotsford Canucks AHL Playoff MVP Arturs Silovs has been traded from Vancouver to the Pittsburgh Pegnuins, and now GM Patrik Allvin is explaining his reasoning behind the move.
The Pittsburgh Penguins made a move today, acquiring goaltender Arturs Silovs from the Vancouver Canucks for forward Chase Stillman and a 4th round pick in the 2027 NHL Entry Draft.
The Penguins had already made a goaltending move, trading former starter Alex Nedeljkovic to the San Jose Sharks. While it looked as though the starting job was once again Tristan Jarry's to lose, he's now got more competition in the crowded Pittsburgh crease that already had prospects Joel Blomqvist and Sergei Murashov.
The Canucks have a crowded crease of their own, as Thatcher Demko was recently re-signed to a new multi-year contract, as was Kevin Lankinen during the year.
Canucks GM Patrik Allvin thanked Silovs for his contributions to the organization while saying that he wanted him to have more of an opportunity elsewhere.

His numbers with the Canucks while he was called up to the NHL this year weren't as strong, as he went 2-6-1 with a 3.65 GAA and a .861 SV%.
He's played in 19 total regular season NHL games and has gone 8-8-2 with a 3.13 GAA and .880 SV%.
