Logan O'Connor fights Jordan Eberle as payback for breaking a teammate's neck in the playoffs
On Tuesday evening, the Seattle Kraken faced off against the Colorado Avalanche for the first time since the 1st round of the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Why is this significant? Well, because the Kraken ousted the Stanley Cup winning Avs in that series, pulling off the mother of all first round shockers. It's also significant because this was the Avs' first meeting with the Kraken since Jordan Eberle broke Andrew Cogliano's neck with a hit from behind in that series.
The two teams clearly wanted to get the retribution out of the way, as did Eberle, as he dropped the gloves with Colorado's Logan O'Connor and took his lumps. O'Connor didn't go easy on him either.
There's a code in hockey that even players like Eberle understands. A questionable hit leading to an injury is almost always met with supplemental discipline. That wasn't the case here, as Eberle was not suspended for the hit. As a result, you knew that the on-ice justice was coming at some point. Credit to Eberle, he understood the unwritten rule and now that this one is all squared away, everyone can move on.
