Blue Jackets Face Unfortunate Setback As Star Player Suffers Severe Injury
For a team already facing a tough season, losing a key young player can be a real blow.
In last night's match against the
Seattle Kraken,
Columbus Blue Jackets forward
Adam Fantilli faced a potential setback after accidentally getting cut by a skate blade on his left leg.
The Blue Jackets reported that he'll undergo further evaluation and won't be hitting the ice for tomorrow night's game against the St. Louis Blues.
The team's official statement reads:
"INJURY UPDATE: CBJ forward Adam Fantilli suffered a cut to his left leg from a skate blade in Sunday's game at Seattle and will not play at St. Louis on Tuesday. He will receive further evaluation after the club returns to Columbus following the game vs. the Blues."
Video footage of the incident is now out:
We've unfortunately witnessed serious injuries from skate blade cuts in recent times. Here's hoping Fantilli's injury isn't too severe, and he can lace up his skates again soon.
Fantilli, drafted 3rd overall by the Blue Jackets from the University of Michigan, has notched an impressive 12 goals and 15 assists in his debut NHL season.
