10 Teams Showing Heavy Interest in Jonathan Toews, per Chris Johnston
Jonathan Toews has announced he is returning to the NHL for the 2025/26 campaign, and now we know just how many teams are interested in landing him.
After two years away from the NHL, Jonathan Toews is reportedly in the best shape of his career, and according to his agent Pat Brisson, he's 100% in on a return to the NHL.
Unsurprisingly, teams are reaching out to the 37-year old veteran, as they believe he still has gas left in the tank, but after two years away, just how much interest is there in the former Chicago Blackhawks captain?
According to TSN's Chris Johnston, a lot, as his recent report has revealed that upwards of 10 teams have been in contact with Toews' management about a potential return to the league next season, with many contenders potentially seeing him as a good 2 or 3C on a good team.
Toews' last season in the NHL came in 2022/23 when he scored 15 goals and 31 points in 53 games while fighting injury, and now that he's fully healthy, there's no reason that he couldn't be at least a 50 point scorer over a full season in the league today.
At this point in time, it's unclear who those 10 teams are, but given that he's a native of Manitoba, with the Winnipeg Jets needing depth down the middle, it's safe to assume that they've reached out, as well as Toronto, who may need to replace
John Tavares if he ultimately walks in free agency.
A year ago, the speculation of a Toews return was highly criticized, as many thought his NHL career was done, but this latest report is just one more sign that he's going to be back in the league soon, and now, we just have to wait until free agency to find out where he lands.
