With NHL training camps beginning in the next week, some star players were in Las Vegas recently for the NHL Players' Media Tour. ESPN's Kristen Shilton and Greg Wyshynski were on site to speak to some of the biggest stars in the NHL after an offseason away from the game.
Tenacious agitator turned superstar
Matthew Tkachuk has never been shy to share his opinion when a microphone is placed in his face.
Recent breakout superstar Matthew Tkachuk was present, and has never held back his opinion when interviewed. At the even, Tkachuck was asked which team he's most excited to watch this year, and shared a surprising answer.
" I'm excited to see what Boston does after their season last year, how they follow that one up."
There's many interpretations, even layers to Tkachuck's quote. It slyly references the Bruins' blowing a 3-1 series lead to the Panthers in the first round, and perhaps jokes at the franchise overall for being faced with an obvious big step backwards from last year's success. Without key players like Bergeron, Krejici, Bertuzzi, and more, Boston will likely be a shell of what they were last season, as they set a record for most wins by a team in NHL history.
The Bruins and their fans will have the opportunity to respond to Tkachuck's statement and the Panthers' playoff victory when the two teams play for the first time this season in TD Garden on October 30th.
