WHL Team Faces Frightening Accident As Team Bus Slides Off Road
Winter travel in junior hockey can be tough, especially with those lengthy bus rides in harsh conditions. Unfortunately, the Seattle Thunderbirds faced a scary moment during their journey to Kelowna.
Seattle Thunderbirds' Bus Slips Into a Ditch
On their way to face the Rockets in Kelowna, the Seattle Thunderbirds, part of the WHL, had a close call as their team bus slid off the road and ended up in a ditch.
In a reassuring social media post, the team shared,
"On the way to Kelowna today, ahead of tomorrow's matchup, our team bus slid off the road and into a ditch. All on board are safe. We'd like to thank the emergency services and the @Kelowna_Rockets for all of their help."
Thankfully, everyone on the bus emerged unharmed, bringing relief, especially considering the haunting memory of the Humboldt Broncos tragic accident years ago.
WHL Teams Extend Their Support
In a display of solidarity, opponents of the Thunderbirds expressed their relief and support on social media.
«So glad to hear everyone's alright! ❤️»
«Glad to hear everyone is safe 💙💚»
«Glad to hear you're okay!»
«The Rockets have dispatched their bus to go get the T-Birds. See you soon, @SeattleTbirds 💚💙»
