Tonight, the legendary trio of Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang have set a new North American sports record in their season debut.
The Pittsburgh Penguins head into the 2025-26 season once again led by Sidney Crosby, Kris Letang, and Evgeni Malkin.
In game one, against the New York Rangers, things are already going well as the Penguins top trio have set a record for being the longest tenured trio of teammates in the history of North American sports.
Penguins Trio Set An Incredible New Record Against the Rangers
With the puck drop against the Rangers, Letang, Malkin, and Crosby embark on their 20th season together they have now become the most tenured trio ever.
In their careers, the Penguins trio has played over 3600 games, tallied 3,703 points, and of course won three Stanley Cups together.
In addition, the Penguins trio also holds the record for most points by three players for one team just ahead of Wayne Gretzky, Jari Kurri, and Mark Messier.
With this incredible accolade now secured, the Penguins will look to make the most of their Hall of Fame trio while they remain together.
Despite the low expectations for the Penguins anything is possible when a team is led by such incredible talent like Malkin, Crosby, and Letang.
As the season gets underway, it will be fun to see if Malkin, Crosby, and Letang can turn back the clock and lead this young Penguins team back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
