Drew Doughty framed Sidney Crosby, Team Canada, and Hockey Canada in one raw burst, and it landed like a playoff hit.

This is not nostalgia for nostalgia’s sake. This is Canada’s room talking about the standard.
Doughty basically said Crosby taught a whole generation what it means to be Canadian, and even as a teammate you still feel it.
That sounds dramatic, until you remember how Crosby carries himself when the games get mean.
Right now, that matters more than ever at the Milan Olympics, with Crosby dealing with a lower-body issue after Canada’s quarterfinal win over Czechia.
Here’s the post with the full Doughty quote.
“I don't even know what words to use. I mean, he's the guy that showed all the young guys, young players growing up, what it means to be Canadian. What it means to be a Canadian hockey player. Getting to play with him, I even feel that being a teammate of his. So that just shows you how special it is."

- Drew Doughty
The timing is perfect, because leadership gets tested when the captain is not 100 percent.
Crosby already had 2-4-6 through three Olympic games in this tournament, before the injury noise got loud.

Sidney Crosby keeps Team Canada’s spine straight

You can feel the fanbase clenching its teeth, because nobody wants this run to turn into the “what if Crosby couldn’t go” Olympics.
When Doughty talks about “showing young guys,” he is really talking about habits, shift lengths, and the little details that don’t show up on the jumbotron.
Doughty knows that language. He has played the hard minutes for years, and he still logs them in LA.
In the NHL season, Crosby sits at 27-32-59, which is basically his usual way of refusing to slow down.
Doughty’s 3-11-14 is quieter offense, but his value is still the minutes, the matchups, and the calm on the blue line.
If Crosby can’t go at full throttle, Canada’s offense changes, but the bigger swing is emotional.
Friday’s semifinal against Finland becomes less about talent and more about who keeps the room steady.
