Johnny Gaudreau's wife granted large sum thanks to the NHL's CBA rules

Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew were killed last Thursday while riding their bicycles near their hometown of Salem, New Jersey.
In the aftermath, the hockey world has been thinking about Gaudreau's family. Johnny Hockey left behind a wife and two kids. Meredith Gaudreau has showed tremendous strength throughout all of this, however, fans have been worried about whether or not she will be taken care of financially. According to the NHL CBA, she will be. Meredith will receive $1 million, as well as Gaudreau's entire salary for 2024-25. This means she will receive over $10 million from the league, according to Hockey Patrol.
Following the tragedy, Meredith took to Instagram where she offered a heartfelt message about her husband. It is sure to make you tear up a little bit.
"The absolute best dad in the world. So caring and loving. The best partner to go through parenthood with. John never missed a single appointment. Was the best at putting the baby to sleep and the Apple of Noa's eye. I love how much she looks like him. We are going to make you proud. We love you so so so much daddy"
While the Gaudreau's will be financially taken care of, that does not make up for the loss they are feeling right now. We cannot imagine what the entire family is going through, especially with two young lives being lost in a senseless act. Our heart goes out to Meredith and the rest of the Gaudreaus during this very difficult time.
