One of the most devastating events to ever affect the hockey community was the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy, for which many are still in grief. The bus driver who started the collision has already been informed of his fate.
The Federal Immigration Office decided yesterday to order Jaskirat Singh Sidhu's deportation back to India. His attorney chose not to challenge it. This decision was taken because Sidhu was simply a permanent resident and lacked documentation to prove his Canadian citizenship. About one month before the tragic event, he was granted permanent residency.
This ruling won't make up for the accident and the demonstrated carelessness that shocked the hockey community and the families of the affected players and employees, but maybe it gives them some peace nonetheless.
