The game status for Penn State Nittany Lions forward Gavin McKenna, the projected first overall pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, has been confirmed following his recent legal troubles.
Even though he's experienced some recent legal issues, Penn State Nittany Lions forward Gavin McKenna has found out his upcoming game status.
McKenna, who is projected to be the first overall pick in the 2026 NHL Entry Draft, will be able to participate in all team athletic actives per the latest information from head coach Guy Gadowsky.
But he refrained from discussing anything further with the issues that McKenna faced, saying that doing so wouldn't be appropriate.
So far this year with Penn State, McKenna has 32 points (11G, 21A) in 24 games played.
Gavin McKenna And Penn State Will Next Play Michigan
Turning his attention to their upcoming opponents from Michigan, Gadowsky said that it's going to be a big challenge for his club but that they feel they're adequately prepared for it.
You want to play in the best conference in college hockey. You come to the Big Ten and you can see it, so it is daunting. However, that’s sort of what we wish for too, right? So we look at it as a great opportunity.
It’s certainly a big part of any series against Michigan, and it seems to be even bigger (this year). So there’s two ways to handle that: to play disciplined hockey, which we plan to do, and also, you are going to have to kill eventually, so we prepared (for that). - Guy Gadowsky
