New Penguins goalie Stuart Skinner opened up about how he has been transitioning to life in the city of Pittsburgh since his arrival from Edmonton.

Stuart Skinner is stepping into something extraordinary. The goalie joined the Pittsburgh Penguins for a morning skate on Tuesday after being traded from the Edmonton Oilers on Friday.
Immigration issues kept him from playing over the weekend, but he's now fully in the Penguins' fold.
Skinner looked the part on the ice: black jersey and shorts with gold trim, and white pads lined with gold. His helmet, however, remains Oilers orange and blue, a nod to his former team.
He'll wear it in his first Penguins start against Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and his former Edmonton teammates at PPG Paints Arena.

The full details of the recent blockbuster trade

Acquired along with defenseman Brett Kulak and a 2029 second-round pick, Skinner replaces Tristan Jarry, who heads to Edmonton along with forward Samuel Poulin.
Skinner spent six seasons with the Oilers, posting a 109-62-18 record with a 2.74 goals-against average and .904 save percentage in 197 games, helping Edmonton reach the Stanley Cup Final the past two seasons.

Why Stuart Skinner is embracing his new transition

Since arriving in Pittsburgh, Skinner has been adjusting to life in a new city. He shared that moving from Edmonton has been a big transition, but one he's embracing, appreciating the culture and community in Pittsburgh while getting comfortable with his new teammates.
"I get to go through it with my family-looking for a house, cars, and all this fun stuff. I mean, it's busy, but that sounds like a really lucky man to me. I'm very fortunate."

The 27-year-old has a similar mindset with the Penguins as he did with the Oilers. Pittsburgh, eyeing a return to the playoffs after three seasons out, could use his steady approach.
Skinner remains focused on helping the team stabilize and reach its goals, joining a core led by Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang.
The change was sudden, but for Skinner, it was a welcome opportunity and one he approached with gratitude and confidence.
