Team USA captain Auston Matthews shared his opinion about Team Canada captain Sidney Crosby before their gold medal matchup tomorrow.
It will be a showdown for the ages tomorrow, as Team USA has advanced to the gold medal game and will take on their historical hockey foe Team Canada.
The USA will hope to earn some revenge against Canada for beating them in the gold medal game of the 2010 Vancouver Games, and their loss in the 2014 Sochi Games.
Speaking of the Vancouver Games, it was Sidney Crosby who scored the OT GWG, which became popularly known as the golden goal.
Right now, Crosby’s status for tomorrow’s game hasn’t been officially determined, but Canada has already indicated that he has a better chance than not of playing.
Team USA captain Auston Matthews, who is also the captain of the Toronto Maple Leafs, is proceeding as if they expect Crosby to play.
He’s a competitor so we all kind of expect to see him playing tomorrow and I’m sure that will give them a big boost. - Auston Matthews
Matthews, who is trying to fight a reputation in his career that he doesn’t perform up to snuff in clinching important games, will need to come through with a clutch effort if USA is to earn the gold.
