Two Unexpected Players Have Officially Been Placed On Waivers
Tuesday's headlines featured a couple of players hitting the waiver wire as their teams looked to send them down to the minors.
Per
Chris Johnston of TSN,
Chicago Blackhawks forward
Zach Sanford and
San Jose Sharks defenseman
Jacob MacDonald found themselves on waivers earlier today.
"Placed on NHL waivers today: Zach Sanford (CHI) and Jacob MacDonald (SJ)." Johnston tweeted.
Sanford, 29, was scooped up by Chicago earlier this season after being waived by the Arizona Coyotes. Across 26 games with both teams, he's notched five assists, six penalty minutes, and maintained an even rating.
Meanwhile, MacDonald, 30, is in his first full season with the San Jose Sharks following a trade from the Colorado Avalanche during the 2022-23 season. In 22 games, MacDonald has set a new career high with six goals, along with one assist for a total of seven points. He's also accumulated 21 penalty minutes and holds a minus-ten rating.
Should Sanford and/or MacDonald clear waivers by Wednesday afternoon, they'll be reassigned to their respective American Hockey League affiliates.
