Goaltender Connor Ingram has been placed on the waiver wire by the Utah Mammoth after weeks of trade talks, but no deal has materialized for GM Bill Armstrong.

After being unable to find a trade partner for goalie Connor Ingram, Utah Mammoth general manager Bill Armstrong has placed him on waivers, and he is now free to be claimed by any of the 31 other NHL teams.
Last year with Utah, Ingram went 9-8-4 with a 3.27 GAA. He also spent time in the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program.
Ingram shared the heartbreaking reason behind his entering the NHL/NHLPA Player Assistance Program, noting he feels that he's not himself after losing his mother to breast cancer. He said that he didn't feel like himself, and also explained that the Program is also useful for athletes who feel that their state of mind is in need of healing.

Will the Penguins show interest in claiming Ingram?

The Penguins have already got Tristan Jarry and Joel Blomqvist under contract and also have young Sergei Murashov with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
Last year, Jarry struggled heavily and was even waived himself and sent to the AHL before being brought back up later in the season. Blomqvist was also not able to remain consistent.
Claiming Ingram off waivers wouldn't cost the Penguins much, as his AAV (average annual value) is $1,950,000.
It would also be a good insurance policy in case Jarry begins to struggle as he did last year. Ingram could also benefit from a change of scenery.
