Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry would be the 1st to say that he needs to be better this year, something he's looking forward to making a reality.

Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry would be the 1st to say that he just wasn't good enough last year, which led directly to him being put on waivers and sent to the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.
That's all in the past now, and he's looking forward to proving it this year.
It was obviously a very tough year, from not playing very well at the beginning of the season, to going down for a conditioning stint, kind of coming back, and not really finding my way.

Then, being put on waivers and going down for some games in Wilkes, I think it was very tough on my whole family, and it was something that we had to manage. I think coming back to Pittsburgh, I was very fortunate. I didn't know if I was going to get another chance to play games in the NHL for Pittsburgh again, but I was very fortunate that I did. I thought that I made the most of those last 15 to 20 games that I played at the end of the year.

Jarry is now back to being the de facto starter in Pittsburgh after the trade of Alex Nedeljkovic to San Jose; he'll also compete for time in the net with Joel Blomqvist.

Tristan Jarry brings back the all-black gear

After Kyle Dubas arrived in Pittsburgh to take over as GM, he instituted a rule that all goaltenders must wear white-based equipment, even though no statistical evidence has shown goaltenders with white-based gear have better stats.
Jarry, who previously wore all black-based gear, is going back to the look after taking a call from Dubas during the summer.
I was in the white throughout the summer, getting ready with a new set of gear. And then Kyle phoned me, and I made the decision to go back to black. Just thought it would be a good change.

With the Penguins last year, Jarry went 16-12-6 with a 3.12 GAA.
