Elliotte Friedman said the Oilers want to make sure that any goalie they acquire is healthy, which may have stalled a Tristan Jarry trade with his recent injury.

Just in time for the Edmonton Oilers' continued search for help in net, Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Tristan Jarry has course-corrected a rocky stretch and re-established himself as a reliable NHL option.

What Kevin Weekes reported regarding Tristan Jarry and the Oilers

On Wednesday, ESPN's Kevin Weekes reported that Jarry is drawing significant interest from Edmonton, whose season is sliding under the weight of subpar goaltending.
A potential fit once seemed clear, but Jarry's turbulent 2024-25 season, which included Penguins goalies nearing an NHL record for first-shot goals allowed and Jarry being waived in January, complicated things.
He later battled back to reclaim the starter's job and carried that steadiness into this year.

Why Edmonton appears to be hesitant on Tristan Jarry

On The Fan Hockey Show of Nov. 27, the crew discussed whether Jarry could land in Edmonton. Elliotte Friedman believes he's available, especially with Pittsburgh carrying four goalies, but added that Edmonton wants certainty on health.
"EDM wants to make sure if they get someone that they are healthy."
That concern helped steer them away from John Gibson. Jarry's recent lower-body injury, which cost him most of November, will factor heavily into any decision.
The Penguins activated the 31-year-old on Wednesday, and he made his first start since Nov. 3. Prior to the injury, he'd posted a solid .911 save percentage in seven appearances. His $5.375 million cap hit runs through this season and the next two.
Jarry also has natural ties to Edmonton, having played junior with the WHL's Edmonton Oil Kings.
Meanwhile, Edmonton's tandem of Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard has combined for a league-worst .868 save percentage. After two straight trips to the Stanley Cup Final, urgency and expectations are high.
Whether the Oilers push for Jarry will depend on his form and health over the next few weeks. As for now, the possibility remains open.
