The Penguins are at a crossroads with their goalie, Tristan Jarry, as trade rumors continue to swirl, but he is on a tear as of late with red-hot performances.

Tristan Jarry did not get the #1 star honors in a 4-2 victory against Buffalo on Wednesday night, but he definitely left an impact.
Back for the first time in seven games, sidelined due to an injury sustained in the Nov. 3 contest against Toronto, he took some time to get back into the groove in a rather quiet opening 35 minutes of play.

What Tristan Jarry did last night to secure the win vs. Buffalo

From there, Jarry emerged as the difference-maker. Buffalo registered 24 shots in the last 25 minutes, with a plethora of chances, and Jarry denied 22 of them.
His most impressive save came with 1:11 remaining, turning away a Jason Zucker point-blank shot to protect the lead, only to be sealed by an empty-netter from Connor Dewar.
The late heroics were what Pittsburgh needed to earn only its second victory in seven games and find itself in a horse race for the final spot in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Prior to this, Pittsburgh sent rookie Sergei Murashov back down to Wilkes-Barre, courtesy of Jarry being activated from injured reserve.

Why Sergei Murashov's time in the NHL may be stalled

This decision is sound from a roster standpoint, but Murashov's three games with the big club have outlined why he is the future prospect within the organization's crease. Jarry's excellent start to the season only serves to possibly stall this process.
However, if this level of goaltending continues, the Penguins will be in a prime position for a playoff run and will have nothing but time on their hands, so they may very well want to hold on to Jarry for the time being.
