Despite a chaotic loss to the Buffalo Sabres, Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan had particularly high praise for captain Sidney Crosby after a record-breaking goal.

Almost nothing went right for the Pittsburgh Penguins last night against the Buffalo Sabres, who beat them 7-3 at KeyBank Centre in Buffalo.
However, one of the positives from the contest was future Hall of Fame captain Sidney Crosby's historic goal in the 1st period; he passed Wayne Gretzky for most years of registering at least a point per game. Crosby now has 20, breaking Gretzky's record of 19.
Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan later described Crosby as a "great person" in his postgame media availability.
He's a great person. When you're in circumstances like this, you find out a lot about people.....it's remarkable. He's in such rare company.

Teammate Bryan Rust commended Crosby's longevity and his ability to play at an increasingly high level at this stage in his career.
«To have that consistency, that longevity, you see a lot of players in this league be really good for a year, or five years. To do it for 20 years? At that level? That tells you what kind of a person he is, and it tells you about his give a s- meter. And for me, it's special. Down the line, I'll reminisce and say that I played with probably the best player ever.»
Crosby himself wasn't thinking much of his accomplishment, choosing instead to share the spotlight with his teammates over the years that made it possible.
It's hard right now after a loss like that. I just think that there's a lot of guys who've contributed to that so I'm thankful for the guys that I've played with that contributed to it. It's a special milestone but obviously [you] play to win.

Crosby now has 80 points (26G, 54A) in 70 games this year.
