New Development Emerges Regarding Jason Robertson's Status with the Dallas Stars
Jason Robertson's future in Dallas is surprisingly up in the air, and now a top NHL insider has revealed the circumstances that would lead to him being moved.
After falling one step short of the Stanley Cup Finals again in 2025, changes were expected to come in Dallas this off-season, with the team already parting ways with Head Coach Peter DeBoer after he threw goaltender
Jake Oettinger under the bus for his actions in Game 5.
However, what no one saw coming was that superstar forward Jason Robertson would be placed on the trade block, but at this point, there's a genuine chance that the former two-time 40-goal scorer is on the move.
According to Elliotte Friedman, there's a chance it happens under specific circumstances, and those are that they could potentially move him if the team can't ship out
Matt Dumba or
Ilya Lyubushkin in the off-season, with the team potentially looking to extend
Mikael Granlund over keeping Robertson in this scenario.
While Granlund was fantastic for Dallas after being acquired from San Jose, he's also 33-years of age, and to think that GM Jim Nill would move a 25-year old just about to hit his prime to keep Granlund is certainly a surprising development.
The only way this makes sense for Dallas is if they know they are going to get a massive haul in return for Robertson, and after posting point totals of 79, 109, 80 and 80 in the last four seasons, playing 82 games in all of his last three, we could see some huge assets sent back to Dallas in a trade.
Ultimately, it would still be an absolute shock if this team were to move Robertson in a trade no matter what the return, but if they can't move either of their veteran defenseman, all signs are now pointing to one of the biggest stars in the NHL being on the move in the summer.
