Edmonton Oilers goalie Jack Campbell faced a challenging 48 hours after being reassigned to Bakersfield in the AHL due to his high salary cap hit.

Speaking about his demotion, Campbell shared his perspective, saying,
"His salary cap hit is too high for some NHL teams to absorb, so he would clear waivers and report to the Condors."

In his AHL appearance against the Abbotsford Canucks, Campbell allowed four goals on 20 shots. Notably, it marked his first AHL loss since December 29th, 2018, a significant period considering his journey with the LA Kings and Ontario Reign in 2018.

Expressing his dissatisfaction with the Oilers' decision, Campbell emphasized that the numbers didn't accurately reflect his performance. Before hitting waivers, Campbell played five NHL games with a 1-4 record and a .873 save percentage. His return to the AHL after multiple seasons in the NHL appears to have left him discontented with his current situation.
