Connor McDavid Making Life Difficult for Oilers With Contract Dilemma

The Edmonton Oilers continue to deal with the disappointment of having lost for the 2nd year in a row in the Stanley Cup Final to the Florida Panthers, who once again denied their dream of what would have been the franchise's 1st Stanley Cup since 1990.

Since then, the Oilers have undergone several roster changes, mostly through player subtraction. They've lost Corey Perry, Jeff Skinner, and Connor Brown to free agency, while they traded Evander Kane to the Vancouver Canucks and also dealt Viktor Arvidsson to the Boston Bruins.

But now, the question on the minds of Oilers fans everywhere is the status of ongoing negotiations with Connor McDavid on a new extension.

McDavid is about to enter the final year of his current deal, but per the latest report from NHL analyst Chris Johnston, there have been no discussions on a new extension for him.

During his season-ending media availability session, McDavid didn't exactly sound like he was in an urgent hurry to get a new contract done while saying that he had to do what's best for himself and his family.
