Barkov Reveals He Played Through Gruesome Injury Following Stanley Cup Championship

The Florida Panthers battled hard through six games against the Edmonton Oilers, and in the end, it was the depth of talent that saw them dominate the final two games, ending the Oilers season once again with back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals wins.

We've already heard from Matthew Tkachuk about the brutal injuries he played through to get to this stage, and now, it's been revealed what Aleksander Barkov went through.

The Panthers captain may not have produced at a high level in the Stanley Cup Finals, but he was key in shutting down Oilers captain Connor McDavid, helping others around him put up big numbers as he led his team on and off the ice to another iconic Stanley Cup win.

However, he did it through a brutal injury, as a photo that has now been released on social media shows the stitches that are currently in the captains hand, arguably the most uncomfortable spot for a hockey player.

It's not clear exactly what happened with Barkov and when it happened, but at the very least, he played the last six games in what must have been excruciating pain, but he did it without complaint and soldiered on to lead this team.

There has never been any doubt about the toughness of hockey players, and if there was, this Stanley Cup Playoffs have once again proven what warriors every single person that takes the ice is, and while Barkov may not have had the worst injury on his team, to play through it the way he did is nothing short of incredible.
