Florida Panthers forward Brad Marchand, who helped the team repeat as Stanley Cup champions, is going viral for his hilarious faux pas with the trophy and his wife, Katrina.
The Florida Panthers continue the celebration of their 2nd straight Stanley Cup win, and former Boston Bruins captain Brad Marchand,
acquired at the Trade Deadline in a stunning move, was one of the main components of the victory.
Not only did Marchand immediately mesh with fellow forward
Sam Bennett, but he scored a whopping 6 goals in the SCF alone against the Edmonton Oilers, helping secure Florida's place atop the rest of the NHL.
In doing so, the Panthers became the 3rd team in the last 10 years to repeat as Cup champions, joining the 2016-17 Pittsburgh Penguins and 2020-21 Tampa Bay Lightning.
Monday was Marchand's personal day with the Stanley Cup, and he went viral for quickly kissing the Cup ahead of his wife Katrina, who had nothing short of a hilarious reaction.
Marchand is now a 2x Stanley Cup winner, having also won with the Bruins in his rookie year of 2010-11.
Brad Marchand re-signed with the Panthers for 6 years
It wasn't clear if the Panthers would be able to re-sign all of their main UFAs, which also included Bennett and longtime Florida defenseman
Aaron Ekblad.
Marchand was even linked to the divisional foe Toronto Maple Leafs, who he beat in a Game 7 for the 5th time in his career.
But the Panthers stunned hockey fans everywhere by not only re-signing both Bennett and Ekblad, but also re-signing Marchand to a 6 year extension that takes him to the age of 43.
The Panthers now have their core pieces all locked up through at least 2030, keeping their title window open for a long time.
