Talk about a great wakeup call! Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov visited neighbors in the early hours of the morning with the Stanley Cup!
While most people likely wouldn't appreciate being woken up in the early hours of the morning, some select fans in the Fort Lauderdale area will have a great story to tell for years to come.
Just hours after the Florida Panthers won the Stanley Cup for the 2nd year in a row, Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov walked around his neighborhood with a few of his teammates carrying the Stanley Cup, and even knocked on several of his neighbors' doors to show them:
While making a guest appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Panthers general manager Bill Zito confirmed the story:
I heard a great story about Barkov from last night. Apparently, he went home at, like, 5 in the morning to change and clean up before they kept going, and walked around his neighborhood and banged on everyone's front door like, 'Hey, you want your coffee with the Cup?'
McAfee loved it and compared it to championship celebrations in youth camps.
That's amazing, that's like the perfect team! You have the perfect team right now! The boys will go get Dairy Queen blizzards for everyone! You hear about that in youth camps, like high school! This sounds like a high school operation!
The Panthers have a modern day dynasty in the opinion of Matthew Tkachuk, who has now helped the Panthers reach the Stanley Cup Final in each of the last 3 years while winning in back to back years.
What an incredible celebration that some of the fans got to share with the team literally on their front doorsteps!
