Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett has officially made history with his goal against the Oilers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final.
The Florida Panthers are hoping to even up the Stanley Cup Final at one game apiece, and they got off to a good start.
Panthers forward Sam Bennett has scored his League-leading 13th playoff goal to give Florida the early 1-0 lead over the Edmonton Oilers, who have since taken a 2-1 lead.
In doing so, Bennett officially put his name into the NHL history books, as he is now the leading goal scorer on the road in a single postseason.
It was his 12th goal on the road in the playoffs, and he had already scored twice during Florida's 4-3 OT loss in Game 1.
Bennett is a pending UFA and could become among the more highly coveted forwards on the open market along with Mitch Marner of the divisional foe Toronto Maple Leafs; Bennett and the Panthers dispatched them in 7 games in the ECSF.
Honestly, since the playoffs have started, it's really just taken a back seat and I haven't really thought too much about anything other than the playoffs and getting here and now the whole focus is on winning the Stanley Cup. Everything else is going to be in the background for the next couple weeks.
Bennett has also played with the Calgary Flames, where he was also teammates with Matthew Tkachuk as he is now in Florida.
