Flyers' Matvei Michkov was involved in a court case involving a Dubai car rental company, and it has been determined that he did no wrongdoing and was set free.

Philadelphia Flyers youngster Matvei Michkov has emerged victorious in a disturbing court case in Dubai, winning his trial against a local car rental company which had seized his passport illegally and had allegedly attempted to extort $100,000 from him.
The court win occurred just days after the case was revealed, with the court ruling decisively in favor of Michkov on Thursday.
Shuk al-Katiri, the defense attorney for Michkov, confirmed that the court decided in favor of the return of his passport, which was illegally taken.
"Today, the court ruled in favor of our client, obliging the company to return the passport, which was illegally seized, to Matvei Michkov. No one has the right to keep anyone's personal documents," al-Katiri told TASS. "The actions of the car rental company were not only illegal, but also unjustified in relation to our client, and this court decision serves as a reminder that the UAE legal system uncompromisingly opposes any such violations."

While on vacation in Dubai with a friend, Michkov was involved in a minor car accident

The case began when Michkov recently took a vacation trip to Dubai, where he was a passenger in a rented BMW that was in a minor one-vehicle accident. His friend was at the wheel, and fortunately, no one was injured.
After the incident, there were false rumors circulating that suggested Michkov and his companion were to be punished severely legally.
The allegations have since been completely dismissed by the court judgment and evidence presented before it in hearings. At just 20 years of age, Michkov has already demonstrated character away from the rink.
With the legal issues now resolved and his passport returned to him, he has seemingly departed the United Arab Emirates and can now focus on his offseason training.
