Ex-Leaf Rips Kyle Dubas Over His Tenure as Maple Leafs GM
The Toronto Maple Leafs are on the verge of elimination again, and now they've been rightfully ripped by a former Leafs star over their handling of Mitch Marner, with their former GM Kyle Dubas taking some backlash too.
Mitch Marner has been facing immense criticism over the past 24 hours from everyone in the NHL world, and unsurprisingly, many analysts and former players have come out to pile on the veteran star after his struggles.
Former Maple Leafs star Rick Vaive was one of those people, and while he brought up Marner, most of his criticism was directed towards the former management group there, led by now Penguins GM Kyle Dubas.
«He should've been traded a long time ago, they doubled down and they tripled down on everybody, and now they're 60 minutes away from losing and having it bite them in the ass.»
That criticism has seemingly carried over to Pittsburgh, as Dubas has missed out on some big name Head Coaches for their current vacancy, as well as making some intriguing, highly criticized moves to change this roster, and after seeing how Toronto has panned out after moving on from Dubas, the signs certainly aren't good.
Of course, the Penguins are in a tricky spot with
Sidney Crosby's NHL career winding down, but if Dubas could have made some better moves to surround him with talent, this could still be a Stanley Cup Playoffs threat.
Ultimately though, the Penguins front office knew about all of these shortcomings before they hired Dubas, and while Marner has struggled and exposed the bad decision that was extending him years ago, there's still hope in Pittsburgh that things can be turned around under Dubas.
